Georgia

Georgia is the most unstable among the three Transcaucasian countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia). After the Soviet Union fell, many territorial questions have been left unanswered causing many troubles among the various ethnic groups living across Georgian borders.

On August 8, 2008 an armed conflict arose once again in two separatist regions: South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Struggles lasted only a few days but the consequences for civilians are still visible, as residents were forced to move from their bombed-out villages and homes. This group of IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) was essentially forced to join other groups of IDPs already living in several collective centres arranged after the Abkhazian conflict of 1992.
